Sleaford 2nd XV   v  Skegness 1st XV 17th November 2007-11-19

Skegness travelled to Sleaford with a considerably changed squad to take on a strong Sleaford outfit. The changes to the team did not appear to deter a committed and driven Skegness side who took an early lead through the hard work and tenacity of the Skegness forwards competently executed by skipper Alan Machin for the first try of the game, Dan Halliday whose kicking ability has been a major asset to the side converted comfortably. Sleaford however continued to mount pressure on the Skegness defence who held out admirably for a considerable amount of the first half but yielded to Sleafords persistence and “quick hands “.

Half time brought a score of 14-7 in favour of Sleaford, who continued second half as they had finished the first and extended their lead deservedly to 24-7. Skegness did not however go onto the back foot and some outstanding work by Simon Kime and Matt Nightingale coupled with the powerful running of Sean Bignell and Dan Halliday, saw Skegness pull back to 24-14. Sleaford continued to push forward and forced over to take the score to 29-14.The match concluded as hard fought as it had begun with stirling work from all. Newcomers to the back row Dan Jenkins and Steve Johnson were outstanding, with competent performances from all who showed great commitment at coming in at short notice .The 1st XV entertain Bourne at Wainfleet Rd Ground this Saturday 24 th Nov 1430 ko.
